Lake Ridge Summer Day Camp
Our camp is designed to promote leadership, teamwork and fellowship. Through our program, each camper will experience meaningful and diverse activities.
How does Lake Ridge Summer Day Camp stand out among the other day camps in the area?
We are licensed as a Child Day Center through the Virginia Department of Social Services. This means we abide by strict regulations, including federal and state background checks, CPR certification, First Aid, state inspections and ongoing training and education in the field of childcare. We believe in the necessity of providing a safe and healthy environment for our campers.
As we regularly and carefully compare our prices with other local day camps, we make it a point to keep costs fair to keep up with facility needs and growth while remaining a community focused program.
1:8 Counselor-Camper Ratio
Low counselor-camper ratio gives each child the attention and support needed to effectively enjoy his or her camp experience.
Full Camp Day
Our day lasts long enough for parents to receive child care for the whole standard work day.
20 Years Serving the Community
From our small beginnings as a "Mother's Day Out" program in the early 1990's, we continued to grow until we were established as a licensed Child Day Center in 1998. We have been a community staple ever since.
The Lake Ridge Summer Day Camp is one of the programs sponsored by the Lake Ridge Association through the Recreation Department. Registration, payments and file updates are processed through this department. The Summer Day Camp makes use of the Association’s pools and playgrounds as a result of this relationship.
Good leaders make a difference in a child’s life. We strive to make a positive difference. Our Director of both the Summer Day Camp and Creative Preschool holds a degree in education, keeps up with regular training and adheres to all Virginia state licensing requirements. There is a head counselor in each group as well as an assistant counselor, regular counselors and an aide if needed. Head counselors are 18+ years old and have experience working with children. Assistant counselors and aides also have experience working with kids.
All counselors undergo criminal background checks at the state and federal level upon hiring. Staff is also required to provide result of tuberculosis testing every two years. All staff is trained in CPR and First Aid. A MAT (Medical Administration Trained) certified employee is on hand at all times. Counselors are required to attend an orientation and complete a daily health observation course.
